Good day everyone! I was just checking my mail and came across this article. As much as I am happy that it supports the notion of the omniscience and omnipotence of GOD, I found it misleading.

Now, I wanna make it clear that the person who sent it has nothing to do with the article being misleading. He/she only forwarded it.

Never doubt the Word of God!!!

It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7):
" Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever
a man soweth, that shall he also reap. --True

Alright, some people would think that “God killed all these people who doubted him”. If there’s anyone who has the right to kill people because of sin, it’s God. Why? Because he is holy. Now, I’m not saying that God killed all those men and women who denied him. God is merciful. Remember Paul? The apostle Paul was a persecutor of Christians. Aside from putting them in jail, he made sure that he had them killed.

Did God kill him?

If you open your Bible, you will find out that Paul wrote a lot of books that make up the New Testament. God changed his heart. He was merciful and Paul was able to bring a lot of people to Christ. :D

Here are some men and women who mocked God:

JOHN LENNON:
Some years before during his interview with an
American Magazine, he said:
"Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not
have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was
ok, but his subjects were too simple, Today we are
more famous than Him" (1966)".
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more
famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

On 4 March 1966, Lennon was interviewed for the London Evening Standard by his friend Maureen Cleave and made an off-the-cuff remark regarding Christianity.^[114]

"Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink.... I don't know what will go first, rock 'n' roll or Christianity. We're more popular than Jesus now. Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me."

The article was printed and nothing came of it — until five months later, when an American teen magazine called Datebook reprinted part of the quote on its front cover.^[115]

A firestorm of protest erupted across the American Bible Belt in the South and Midwest, as conservative groups staged public burnings of Beatles records and memorabilia. (The Beatles at first viewed this in a wry way, saying, "They've got to buy them first before they burn 'em.") Many radio stations banned Beatles music, and some concert venues cancelled performances.

On 11 August 1966, The Beatles held a press conference in Chicago, in order to address the growing controversy.^{[citation needed]}

Lennon: I suppose if I had said television was more popular than Jesus, I would have got away with it, but I just happened to be talking to a journalist friend, and I used the words "Beatles" as a remote thing, not as what I think — as Beatles, as those other Beatles, like other people see us. I just said "they" are having more influence on kids and things than anything else, including Jesus. But I said it in that way, which is the wrong way.

Reporter: Some teenagers have repeated your statements — "I like The Beatles more than Jesus Christ." What do you think about that?

Lennon: Well, originally I pointed out that fact in reference to England. That we meant more to kids than Jesus did, or religion at that time. I wasn't knocking it or putting it down. I was just saying it as a fact, and it's true more for England than here. I'm not saying that we're better or greater, or comparing us with Jesus Christ as a person or God as a thing, or whatever it is. I just said what I said and it was wrong. Or it was taken wrong. And now it's all this.

Reporter: But are you prepared to apologise?

Lennon: I wasn't saying whatever they're saying I was saying. I'm sorry I said it really. I never meant it to be a lousy anti-religious thing. I apologise if that will make you happy. I still don't know quite what I've done. I've tried to tell you what I did do, but if you want me to apologise, if that will make you happy, then OK, I'm sorry.

The Vatican accepted his apology, but the Southern Baptist Convention (the predominant religion in the U.S. Bible Belt) did not.^[116] Lennon wrote later, "I always remember to thank Jesus for the end of my touring days; if I hadn't said that The Beatles were 'bigger than Jesus' and upset the very Christian Ku Klux Klan, well, Lord, I might still be up there with all the other performing fleas! God bless America. Thank you, Jesus."^[117]

I don’t think I can explain it further.

TANCREDO NEVES:
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got
500 votes from his party, not even God would remove
him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he
got sick a day before being made President, then he
died.

Tancredo Neves’ case has yet to be confirmed. I am still doing research whether he did say those things. We must keep in mind that Tancredo Neves was a politician, he had rivals who could have launched a dirty campaign against him. Let’s leave him alone for now, I’ll get back to this when I find facts to support it.

CAZUZA:
During a show in Canecão ( Rio de Janeiro ), whilst
smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into
the air and said: God, that's for you.

I can't even explain how he died.

Cazuza’s is funny. If his cause of death is not known or as mentioned by the writer, unexplainable, chalk it up to smoking. There are two famous Cazuzas in

Brazil

, one is a radio journalist who was shot dead. You might want to check out this site:

THE MAN WHO BUILT TITANIC:
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked
him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic
tone he said: "Not even God can sink it"

The result: I think you all know what happened to
the Titanic.

Thomas Andrews was the builder of Titanic. He was known to be very particular about details and as the ship went on it's voyage, he kept on taking notes on what should be improved about the ship. The statement above says that he answered "not even God can sink it", when asked by a reporter.

Again, I have not been able to find references that he said that. IF he did say it though, it goes to show that he did not recognize the authority of God over the forces of nature. This is misleading in the sense that it shows God to be unmerciful. God is very wise to be hurt or broken by a claim made by man. Yes, revenge belongs to God, but I believe God does not pour out anger and revenge on petty, trivial affairs. All that He is, and all that he’s done is enough to speak for his defense.

Going back to the statement, the only quote by Thomas Andrews that has been in biographical accounts is this:

"...on 14 April, Andrews remarked to a friend that Titanic was "as nearly perfect as human brains can make her."

I think the quote used by the writer of this article was taken from the Titanic movie. Now we know that in movies, dialogues have the tendency to be exaggerated for impact, or as the plot demands.

MARILYN MONROE:

She was visited by Billy Graham during a
presentation of a show. He is a preacher and
Evangelist and the Spirit of God had sent him to
preach to her.

After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she
said: "I don't need your Jesus"

A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.

As for Marilyn Monroe, the story is that Billy Graham woke up one evening with the burden to pray for her. He tried to get in touch with her through her agent but the agent said to call again after two weeks. Marilyn suffered from depression and died of a drug overdose in her hotel room. If only, the agent allowed Billy Graham to come and see her… the gospel and new life Billy Graham would tell her about, would have given her hope.

To straighten out the facts: Billy Graham was not able to share the gospel with her, and Marilyn did not say “I don’t need your Jesus” for they did not meet

BON SCOTT:
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979
songs he sang:

"Don´t stop me, I´m going down all the way, wow the

On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found
dead, he had been choked by his vomit.

CAMPINAS/SP IN 2005
In Campinas, a group of friends, drunk, went to pick
up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car
and was so worried about the drunkenness of her
friends and she said to the daughter - holding her
hand, who was already seated in the car: "MY
DAUGHTER, GO WITH GOD AND MAY HE PROTECT YOU",

She responded: ONLY IF HE (GOD) TRAVELS IN THE BOOT,
COZ INSIDE HERE IT'S ALREADY FULL"

Hours later, news came by that they had been
involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the
car could not be recognized what type of car it had
been, but surprisingly, the boot was intact.

The police said there was no way the boot could have
remained intact. To their surprise, inside the boot
was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

As for the Campinas accident in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I searched but found no public records or news items on the 2005 accident. No stories on the families involved (if ever there were) either.

Many more important people have forgotten that there
is no other name that was given so much authority as
the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus
died and rose again, and he is still alive. JESUS!!!

Whether the cases discussed are true or not, I can only say that man can never outdo God.

Anyway, I have nothing against the writer of this article. I understand that the intention is to tell others about God, only the approach made it misleading. If we want to tell others about Christ, we don't need to terrorize them, because that is not the nature of God's love for it is unconditional. He is merciful. If the reason for a non-believer is to accept Christ because he/she was scared, then I don't think he/really understood the meaning of what Christ did on the cross.

We are now experiencing a very hot weather. And when I say hot, I mean extremely HOT! Yes, you've read it right, it is really hot. Weather forecast this month of April states that we are experiencing a very hot weather and put it in mind that they say that we are to experience a hotter atmosphere for the next few months.

Recently, or may I say this fast few days (or even months) we Filipinos is experiencing a different climate. Some exaggerates this (or probably not) as climate change. And you know guys what makes this world hotter? Not just the weather but it also makes our temper go wild.

It is because of the campaigns, the jingles and a lot lot lot posters. While I am watching a show in television. I can't help myself to get irritated because of T.V. campaigns of some politicians (which greatly affects the mind of some individuals). This post is to tell them that I am sick and tired of all of these nuisance. Can you all please shut up! Let the people choose and not dictating them on what to do or on whom to vote.

Choose your President Wisely (Accomplishments of some presidentiables)

Sorry for not posting any posts this couple of weeks, this is due to lack of time because of reviewing for the final examination. Anyways, this summer is one of the most important time for us Filipinos, this summer, we are about to make a history, the first automation voting in the Philippines. We are about to witness a life changing event (or probably not) in our lives. This summer we are to witness the 2010 elections.

Have you already chosen you're president? Have you already chosen whom to vote. I do believe that this post could help you choose on whom to vote for. Here are some backgrounds and accomplishments of some presidential candidates.

What’s with the number 3? 3 in a row

My latest post (before this) was entitled "earthquake everyday", which happened 3 in a row (3 earthquakes in 1 day). I was just asking what’s with the number 3 that makes it very different from the other numbers. It’s so weird that I have known 3 different catastrophes with 3 similar events on each catastrophe. I know it is hard to understand, but I’m gonna expound on it further.

2nd on the three, three in a row

My sister, the eldest of the 3 of us, is to be married on March 20, 2010 (Congratulations!). It was planned almost 6 months ago when her husband-to-be asked for her acceptance for marriage. Maybe you were asking “Where is the 3 in a row there?” here it is:

Let’s name my first cousin as “girl no.1”. Girl no. 1 is a girl who is on the legal age to marry. Giving a background of her, she already has a son but doesn’t have any husband. We, the whole relatives of ours, was just shock to know that this cousin of ours is to be married soon. (1 down).

Let us now proceed to cousin no. 2. This cousin of mine is the eldest of all of us (cousin) in the mother side. She stayed in California working just for her family to have a good future, but suddenly wasted their chance (pertaining to her family), for about 10 years. Concluding this statement, one can say that she is now on her 30’s or 40’s. And yes, you are right. On February 1st week, she has just arrived on the Philippines after 10 years of staying abroad. On our surprise, she just broadcasted that she is going to have her marriage this 2010. In summary, she just have her marriage last February 4th week. And she just left our country a few hours ago (about 4:00 pm of March 09)

Last on the list, the youngest of the 3. A 16 year old girl was forced to have her marriage to a boy that steals her virginity. It was just known by my auntie, when my auntie checks her cell phone while she was asleep. And from then on, the story did not have its period. And the gossip spread like a wildfire. She is now leaving with his husband to be.

3rd on the three, three in a row

Life is worth living. (3 boys)

1st boy. My eldest sister’s friend. He died on a motorcycle accident. Cause: driving while drunk. Result: his one leg was cut and was left at the other side of the road, his balls were crushed and there is no way for him to be alive.

2nd boy. My grade school classmate, and high school schoolmate. He committed suicide and hanged himself last week (March 02, 2010). Cause: there were 3 angles of story: 1st, he failed 6 subjects and was depressed because his parents were expecting a lot from him. 2nd, he had been scolded by his parents because of his attitude (nabarkada at nabisyo). 3rd, he became angry with his friends and he became a loner. Either of the three reasons, what matters most is the fact that he committed suicide. I look at this person very high; I salute him for his greatness. He is a smart student (that is why he is on the star section of our school), He is born as a leader (there never came a time in his life that he didn’t became an officer. In fact, he is our student council's auditor batch ’08), and lastly is that he is handsome (making him a runner-up for Mr. UAHS’08). [May you rest in peace my dear brother](He is celebrating his 19th birthday today March 09, 2010)( HAPPY BIRTHDAY! )

3rd boy, My sister’s (2nd sister) co-player. He died on a car accident. He was about to go to the wake of boy number 2 but suddenly he and his friends planned to take a shot instead. On his way back home, he hit a barrier and died. Cause: drunk.

EARTHQUAKE again?

After the most shocking earthquake that was held at Haiti a few weeks ago, here comes another one. It was all so shocking to hear this kind of news. Hour before, I and some of my groupmates interviewed the head of the Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, Engr. TIburcio, at the oldest existing University on Asia, the University of Santo Tomas. Our topic about the interview: earthquake resistant buildings. As I am way back to my hometown, Pampanga, this afternoon (Philippine time), i was shocked to hear the news that an 8.8 magnitude earthquake strucked Chile, another earthquake hit Southern Japan, and another hit Southern Philippines. All happened on the 26th of February, 2010. Here are some of the details:

CHILE
A massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Chile early Saturday, killing at least 78 people, collapsing buildings and setting off tsunami.

Chilean TV showed devastating images from the country's second city of Concepcion of collapsed homes, a large building completely engulfed flames and injured people lying in the streets or on stretchers. It said the earthquake destroyed many roads, making it imposiible for vehicles to get through, and there was no electricity or water.

Tsunami warnings were issued over a wide area, including South America, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands.

A huge wave reached a populated area in the Robinson Crusor Islands off the Chilean coast, said President Michele Bachelet. There were no immediate reports of major damage there, she added.

Bachelet said the death toll was at 78 and rising, but officials had no information on the number of people injured. She declared a "state of catastrophe" in central Chile.

JAPAN

A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.9 rattled Japan's southern islands early Saturday, injuring two and initially prompting fears of a tsunami.

There were no reports of serious damage from the quake, believed to be the strongest in a century to hit Japan's southern Okinawa island. Japan's Kyodo news said two people were hurt, but there were no reports of any deaths.

The quake occured off the coast of the island of Okinawa at a depth of 6.2 miles at 5:31 am Saturday, the Meteorological Agency said.

PHILIPPINES

A 5.1 magnitude hit the islan of Mindanao, Philippines on Feb 26, 2010. Location: 5.842 degrees North and 125.792 degree East. Depth: 53.7 km. Distances: 75 km ESE of Genreal Santos, Mindanao, philippines; 140km S of Davao, Mindanao Philippines; 1110 km SSE of Manila, Philippines; 2490 km ENE of Jakarta, Java, Indonesia.

The Philippines is located on the "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin that is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM BUT THE SECOND MOUSE GETS THE CHEESE

It is definitely not good to rush things too much, wait for the right time, for the perfect time produces great fruit.

I with some of my co-life group were hanging out at Gateway Manila waiting for the time for our life group to start a few days ago, when we decided to visit the National Book Store and take a look on some of the books. I went to the third floor and found a book by Francis Kong entitled "The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese”, and all of a sudden a lot of words and ideas entered my mind and planned to put my thoughts in this blog.

THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM…

This statement means a lot for all of us, especially for professionals. In order to get a great impression from others and to have a good record, we needed to always be on time to be the best among the rest. In every situation of our life we always thought of always being the best; on where we always wanted other’s focus to be on us; and to be praised for all of our accomplishments. But I tell you the truth, are we not tired of being the best? Tired of every time that we do everything only for others to look high at us? Moreover, tired of showing others of what you are not?

…BUT THE SECOND MOUSE GETS THE CHEESE
When I’ve read this part, I was wowed and let the statement shrink on my mind. After a couple of minutes tinkering about the phrase, I just smiled and said: This phrase means everything. Definitely, the first mouse was trapped on a mousetrap and the second mouse freely gets the cheese. Lesson: Do not rush thing too much, there is a perfect timing for everything. Question: Do we really need to take our life seriously? Alternatively, do we need to just hang out and have some fun under the sun? Yes, for quite some time now, I myself am doing everything to be at the top of the list at home, at school and a lot more. However, I have just noticed that what am I doing is a little bit of shattering. I am exhausted to be the best, and learned that doing my best is better than being the best.

To conclude this post, it is true that the early bird catches the worm but always remember that the second mouse gets the cheese. Do not rush things too much; there is a perfect timing for everything. Bear in mind that doing you best is always greater than being the best.

May you always be the early bird, and if not, try at least to be the second mouse

Why is there a rich country and a poor country?

In every place that we go, there is this what we call ranking, whether in school, in work, government and even in economy, there is always a ranking referring to the best of all. This is the same way why there are a lot of people trying to be the best of all. But always bear in mind that "Doing your best is always greater than being the best".

Do we consider a country rich because of its richness of resources? Is it because of the dominant religion? Is it because of the national territory of the state? Is it because of the kind of government (Monarchy, Parliamentary or Democracy)? Is it because of the government itself? or is it because of the attitude of the citizens living in a state?
The answer: It is because of the attitude of the citizens living in one state. According to survey, those countries who are at the top ranking has a people who possess the value of ethics, respect, kindness, integrity, cooperation, responsibility, ability to follow rules and regulations, love of work, strive to earn money, will of super action and love of their own country. On the other hand, those who are said to be a poor country does not possess any of these traits or possess only a minority of them.

We must all cooperate to have a great world. A new world for the next generation of people. We must not tell that this person or that person is the reason why we have a poor country. In reality, it is because of all of us not just of the president, or the Prime Minister or the King of our county. It is all because of us and because of our faith not just to ourselves but to the Almighty. And always keep in mind that "Doing our very best is always greater than being the best".

We are on the 2nd month of the year 2010, there is still 10 more months for us to help change our country. Make this a better place. God Bless.

Melissa / Melai / Isay wins the Big Jump to the BIG 4

Earlier this week, Big Brother revealed another twist that will surely test the competetiveness of each housemate. It is a game called BIG JUMP TO BIG 4. What's at stake? Well, just as how it sounds, it is a series of games where the winner will have the privilege to ensure its spot in the honorable BIG 4. Yes it means no more nomination nor eviction until the Big Night.

The housemates were divided into two groups. Paul Jake and Johan initiated themselves to stand as the leaders. In Team Johan, the members were Jason, Yuri, Princess and Kath. Team Paul Jake consisted of Melai, Rica, Mariel and Tibo. The team who will win against the other will have its one member jump to Big 4.

With the power of great teamwork, Team Paul Jake won by landslide after winning two consecutive games. It was then revealed that the members of Team Paul Jake have to go through games until the sole winner is determined. Each member of the winner team has chosen someone from Team Johan to act as their coach. Apparently, Melai chose her closest "friend" Jason Francisco as her coach.

Rica and Mariel immediately lost their chance after receiving the lowest scores in the first game, of course Rica is just a fake housemate so she really doesn't intend to win this game.

In the final battle, Big Brother revealed that it would be an endurance game where everyone will stand in a small ramp in the middle of the pool. The one who will remain standing shall be proclaimed as the winner of BIG JUMP.

After 9 straight hours of standing, Big Brother reminded the three about how long have they been standing and asked them if they can still carry on. The three contenders positively answered "YES!!!".

In the middle of the game, there were times where Big Brother tried to tempt the housemates by offering their favorite food but still, the three had stood up with their goal- to be part of Big 4.

Paul Jake fell off the pool after several hours making Melai and Tibo as the remaining possible winners. They were asked to just use only one foot in standing, no changing of foot is allowed.

Jason has never stopped motivating and entertaining Melai for her to endure the game. He was even mentioning some numbers that represents the things that Melai has to remember whenever she feels like giving up. The most used was four which stands for "Trust yourself". In times where Melai is already telling that she is already tired, Jason gives her the words of encouragement. You can really see how nervous Jason is while watching Melai in her one of the hardest fight inside Big Brother house.

After two hours, Tibo finally gave in by saying "Kuya suko na po ako.".

"Kay Melai po talaga ito.", he added after saying that he chose the wrong foot in the game. He really a had hard time because he chose the left foot.

Melai and Jason weren't able to stop their tears as their hardship earned the sweetest fruit of victory.

Once again, Melason (Melai and Jason) has proven how they draw strength from each other.

Is it the end for sending votes to save Melai? It is something to be announced. Do not forget that in Pinoy Big Brother, there will always be twists.

Most important is how these two stood up with what they believe in, earning back some of the fans they lost during the "Resbak Attack" where they chose friendship over the weekly task and decided to quit.

2012 experience and movie review

According to the Mayan Calendar, the end of the world will happen soon, to be exact, this statement showed their predictions. The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Mayan recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT. (greatdreams.com/2012.htm)

When you enter the Cineplex for a movie like 2012, you know what you signed up for: an intense rollercoaster ride. It was Friday Evening when I and two of my other classmates planned and watched 2012 at the Sta. Lucia Mall. It was actually my first time to watch a movie on its first day, and it’s a jam-packed filled

cinema. The start of the show is 6:40 pm and we ask if we can enter even if we’ll not start the movie. As we enter the cinema, the mood is serious, though we bought tickets for premiere; we end up sitting on the deluxe due to the massive amount of people watching.

I would not share the movie synopsis because you can search it, and maybe you’ll find it yourself. All that I can share is my reaction about the movie. The actors, animation, production was all good. It was like, I was in the movie, and they made me feel that I am a part of the story. Everything was fantastic. I was like telling them what to do, while knowing that they can hear me, but I am shouting them to do this or that. I was fully captivated by the greatness of the movie, by watching it, you can see the efforts of the staffs in making that movie a great one and you can conclude that they were all great from the director to the camera mans, everything was extraordinary.

Since I have my praises for the movie, here comes my critic. The only thing that I’ve noticed was the usual flow of the story. Since the start of the movie, I have predicted that the family of Jackson will be saved. And the typical thing that they were escaping death though it’s obvious that they are making sure to it that they will not die for on the many things that happened, the breaking of road, the unexpected falling of buildings, the explosion of this and things alike, they were still saved. I don’t know if it’s really their fate or it’s just an unexpected thing. Lastly is the titanic experience, you can see to it that they are trying to clone the titanic event. When Rose is trying to save Jack from the jail, the flood and everything was the same, it’s just that they alter some part of it.

Maybe I entered 2012 not just for the thrill ride, maybe not even for that much-vaunted Mayan prediction (which the movie’s plot skewers with some scientific miscalculations). Maybe I plunked down some hard-earned money because deep down, I felt that the world really is messed up, that the seas will rise and swallow up everything, that our planet is up for some overdue purging. In that case, better to let God's will be done and have the paranoid fantasies realized within the safe confines of the theater seat. Because the alternative would just be too intense. To conclude, I would like to give this movie 3 out of 5 stars for an almost job well done.

A ghastly situation

Subsequent to the joyful happenings these past few days, a 90 degree event happens this day. You were all probably aware of what happens to my grades, it definitely passed. This day I went to my school to get my clearance and have a pre-sectioning at the same way. As accustomed, our system is a trash; there is no arrangement and uniformity. Every student suffered from a traumatic experience specially those who are previously in section 2-5. The blazing heat of sun, the noise of students protesting and the sweat dropping through every
student heads contributed to an appalling atmosphere. After transferring from one line to other, we end up into a ghastly section, beyond doubt it has a horrible schedule. It is definitely a big adjustment for us, but we must fight the good fight of this. “Kahit na pangit yung makuha nating section, basta’t sama sama lang tayo” – Claum.

Grades Revelation

After a long time of analyzing problems and memorizing formulas, the semester packed with stress had already passed. The time of revealing our grades has already started, the surprise filled or should I say the heart-boggling day.

As I enter the Engineering building of UST, there are plenty of engineering students waiting at the corridors, inside the room, and some at the walkway (located outside the building). The massive students gave the cool day a warm sensation. On one side, you can see students celebrating while at the other side are students depressing.

I went to my professor’s designated place hoping to have a passing grade. As I wait for minutes, the professor came at last. Looking for a vacant room, my heart jumps in uneasiness. She didn’t saw any vacant room and just planned to place our grades on wall. (If your name was skipped, then you had a failing grade). I looked at mine and SPLASH!!! It was there. My uneasiness transformed in happiness, it feels like all my effort was worth it. And the rest of the grades in my other subjects were history.

I thank God for everything for not letting me go, my friends who encouraged me in my situation and my professors who gave me not just a passing grade but a relatively high grade. To my blog viewers, thank you. To God be the glory forever.

Three : An adaptation from the poem “Tree”

I received this message early this morning. I thought of sharing this message to you especially for those individuals who are suffering from a low grade.

I think that I shall never see,

A grade as lovely as a THREE

A THREE that earned with blood and sweat

When failing is a serious threat

A THREE I ask from God all day,

Knowing that praying is the only way

Exams are taken by fool like me

But only God can give a THREE

It was so humorous, but it’s real. I was hoping for this kind of grade for my Physics. Tomorrow will be the day of illuminating; it will be the day on where our grades will be revealed. I’m still hoping for a grade higher than 3.00 but if it is not God’s will for me to have that grade (even 3.00 will be fine) then let His will be done and not mine.

But still I am assuming and I am not worried of what my grade will be for I know that I did my best in getting a high grade and by studying well, I deserve to obtain a passing grade.

Sometimes we encounter folks on street or anywhere else bragging of how lucky they were for a specific date. Some say it is their lucky day while some do not. There are a lot of individuals who rely on horoscopes. If the horoscope states that their lucky color is red or their lucky numbers will be this and that; the possible outcome is that they will wear shirts or any accesories that has a shade of red for the entire day and will bet on lottery for their corresponding lucky numbers and hope to win. Are there such things as these?

Oh! Well, this is a very last post of my birthday celebration but still let me tell you a short preview of what happened to me on my birthday. My birthday happened on a Thursday and that same day was the day on which our final grades in English will be revealed; well as they say, it's my lucky day, and maybe it really was for I obtained a perfect score. Next to the list is my Physics grade. If you are one of my friends, you must have known that I am suffering from a low preliminary grade in Physics garnering an average of 38. In reality, it is not the divulging of our grades in our 4th quiz, but I ask my proffesor if I can view mine so that I would know of how more remaining points do I need to gain, and she let me do what I asked for. Wiith luck on my side (as what the title of this post say), I gained 91 points making my grade passed (so far), and the rest of the day was history. It was a blissful time and a lot of unexpected surprises.

This may be luck, YES! For some. But for me, I call it grace. It is an undeserved gift from God and I appreciated it a lot.

A Study: Babies and Mothers Cause of Death

If you wonder on how many individuals die every seconds, minutes, hours or even days; expect for an answer within a range. There is no constant number to define and state the total number of people dying every day.

More than 2 million babies and mothers die worldwide each year from childbirth complications, outnumbering child deaths from malaria and HIV/AIDS, according to a study.

"The world will continue to miss the unheard cry of the 230 babies who die every hour from childbirth complications," unless there is better planning and implementation of policies, according to the study.

Some 1.02 million babies are stillborn and another 904,000 die soon after birth. By comparison, 820,000 children die from malaria and 208,000 die from HIV/AIDS worldwide.

"The huge numbers hide multiple personal stories of loss," said Joy Lawn, who runs Save the Children's Saving Newborn Lives campaign. "Each death is a tragedy to a family — actually a double tragedy since almost all these deaths could be prevented."

The report said that many of the deaths could be avoided with improvements in basic health care, and training for local health care workers to perform emergency cesarean sections and other lifesaving techniques.

Poverty is one of the main causes of these deaths. In wealthier countries most women give birth with a skilled attendant while in poor countries, few women do.

These are just babies and their mothers, what more if we include those who die from natural death or accidents.

Filipinos fight on Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana)

A tropical country with fascinating landscapes, active volcanoes, splendid beaches, coral waters, tropical forests and bunch of so-called natural resources are just some of the description they are claiming about the pearl of the Orient Seas, THE PHILIPPINES. Yes it was,
BEFORE! Due to the abuse of Filipinos (actually, also the foreigners who take our country for granted) these wherewithal are eventually devastating.

For the past month, our country has suffered an alarming phenomenon. The most renowned and most perilous of all is the typhoon Ondoy. Almost 2 million of our countrymen were affected by the said typhoon. Most private liabilities were swift away by just a slap of the finger and these properties were gone to waste.

Typhoon Ondoy (International Name: Ketsana) poured on a month's worth of rain in 6 hours leaving most of Metro Manila, Rizal and Laguna flooded neck-deep. Hardest hit were Marikina, Cainta, Pasig and Quezon City. A total of 25 provinces including Metro Manila were placed under state of calamity. As of last count, there are 246 dead, 2 million affected and Php4Billion estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure (PDI, 2009).

A lot of us got stranded; I myself got stranded in the NLEX for half a day. I was travelling from Manila to my province, Pampanga, when the typhoon is on its highest level of pouring rain water. From the real travel time of a range of 45 minutes to 1 and a half hour; it took us (for I was with other passengers) 15 hours to travel a seemingly nearby province, having neither food nor drink. Each and every one of us has his or her story. (If possible, I would like to hear it from you, just tell your story in the comment box).

To tell you frankly, I was awe on the value shown by the Filipinos and Filipino community during this calamity. They show once again the trademark they are withholding, the BAYANIHAN.

After this destructing event cause by nature, Filipinos are ready to go on and fight. They are ready to stand up to their feet and move on. This is what I admire to us, Filipinos. We never lose hope, and we always stand as one.

To end, I would just want to share the reactions of some folks affected by the typhoon. Some were terrified of what had just happened, for they thought it was the end of the world (to have a background of this, read Matthew 24: 3-14). Some still feel happy for they were still alive and kicking. I believe this is a wake-up call for us who are living in an absurd generation.

UAAP 2009 Cheering Competition

September 13, 2009: the date when 8 universities will battle for the 2009 Cheerdance Championship title. As always, UP and UST are the teams to look out for considering that they have been the two formidable teams in the Top 2 spot (exclude 2006 when UP placed 2nd runner up).

I travel to Manila all the way from Pampanga just to watch the much awaited UAAP Cheering Competition. It was a jampacked event where gen. ad. is filled with supporters. I actually bought a ticket for gen. ad. but it was a great thing that I and some of my friends were able to seat at the Upper Box B.

Far Eastern University (FEU) Pep Squad dethroned defending back-to-back champion University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad while Ateneo de Manila University's Blue Babble Battalion surprisingly came second in the 2009 UAAP Samsung Cheerdance Competition on Sunday at the jampacked Araneta Coliseum.

Using earth music and this season’s UAAP theme logo Sarimanok, the FEU Pep Squad gave the 20,000 crowd a clean and powerful performance. One of my friend told me that the FEU will change its name from FEU Tamaraws to FEU parrots. Because their image should be Tamaraws but we didn't see any Tamaraws in there. It was all parrots or FEU says it is a sarimanok.

The routine of FEU, which drew a score of 86.1 percent, was the last in the sequence of order with their crowd hoisting a banner which said “save the best for last”.

The FEU Pep Squad, who last won the Cheerdance title in 1998, took home Php 225,000.00 for besting the other seven schools. Being a supporter of my school, not FEU, I, and all of the schools, admit to it that FEU did an astonishing performance. It was well polished and well practiced. In fact after their performance, all of the schools gave them an around of applause for doing a great job.

Ateneo, meanwhile, showed a clean routine and wowed the crowd with their Moonwalk lift stunt to emerge first runner up with 83.4 percent and got Php 140,000.00. I actually didn't like their routine. It was just clean, no more no less, but the theme itself, nothing, it was zero.

UP Pep Squad disappointingly ended up second runner up after its not-so-flawless routine managed to only get 83.1 percent from the judges. They took home Php 90,000.00 for their third-best effort. Up pep squad showed the crowd another spectacular dance but seeing their major pyramid destructed, My mind immediately ponder that they will not made it to be champion for this year's cheerdance.

Surprisingly, the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, who has eight championships – five straight in this decade, ended up outside the top three. Watching these group dance I was alived for no previous dance step was recycled and all was unique. There were some errors but it was endured by doing a superb finishing dance steps. I was totally sad when I've heard from my ears that the Salinggawi Dance Troup didn't made it for this years' Cheering Competition.

No bitterness

The traditional powerhouse UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe was surprisingly taken out of the top three for the first time in the competition’s history.

The Egyptian-inspired routine of Salinggawi, which was capped off by a difficult human pyramid with two cheerdancers circling on top amidst fire-like banners, did not make it to the top three in the eyes of the judges.

“Prinepare ko na sarili ko for this. In every competition, there is winning and losing. I have to admit, I expected that we were to be called after UP was announced third. But as I told the team, we have to grow with this experience,” said Salinggawi choreographer Ryan Silva.

Silva was the architect of Salinggawi’s unprecedented five-peat run from 2002-2006.

“FEU came strong this year. They showed a clean routine,” Silva added.

Bitterness

UP has this portion of bitterness when a banner flashed from their crowd saying 101>400. But UP's bitterness for UST arised more and more when Ateneo was announced as 1st runner up. All of the Up's supporters were hailing FEU and not even one from UP's crowd cheered for UST. UP cheered the Let's go Tamaraw cheer before announcing the Champion while UST folks cheered their trademark Go USTe. After announcing ADMU win, the UST supporters already accepted that FEU will be the Champion for this year competition for a flawless routine. Salinggawi Dance Troup deserves a higher place than what it gets from this competition. 2011 may be a pay back time for it is the UST Quadricentennial: 400 years of Unending Grace.

LOVE

NU's love and support for UST was showed after announcing the Champion.The Yellow Jackets together with the UST supporters still hailed the GO USTe. The Salinggawi dance troup dance to the rythm of this cheer and NU pep squad showed their support for UST by also dancing into the rythm of GO USTe while any other school hailed for FEU's winning.

Choosing our 2010 President

The Philippines is a democratic country which urgently needs a wise and a great president who will make this country’s economy to rise up. The time has come for the Filipino people to choose their own bets for the candidacy. As far as the Filipinos are concern, they are looking for a president who will do a great change for the country as shown by the late president Ma. Corazon Aquino.

We are experiencing a great responsibility yet a hard choice for looking for the seemingly perfect president. Though, we cannot find a perfect one, we are trying to see to it that our bets will be as perfect as he/she can be.

All of the choices will be imperfect: if the country allowed it, one choice would be a reform candidate-a non-local government official, a Christian preacher, a young councilor or an environmental and sustainable agriculture activist. If the COMELEC or the Supreme Court allows it, another choice would be an impeached ex-President. Three or four senators from varying backgrounds and perhaps a former Congressman turned Secretary of Defence would complete the spectrum of options.

How should one choose a President in 2010? It is tempting to do this in a very simple manner: to approach politics, like all things in the Philippines, as personal. But to say that politics is personal can mean two things. It can mean on the one hand: Who do you know? Who is closest to you? Who is the one you are most personally connected to? Or it could mean: What do you know about a candidate?

While one sees the positive aspects of the candidacies of some senators, I am concerned that they do not have local governance experience. I have come to believe that the heart of governance, the place where it matters most, is local governance. The hope is that one day; we will have a President or a head of government that comes from the ranks of local government officials. For this reason, Senator Gordon will be included as one of the options to consider, given his record as long time Mayor of Olongapo. For the same reason, if the candidacies of MMDA Chairman and former Bayani Fernando and Mayor Jejomar Binay became viable, one should not necessarily rule them out as one makes his choice.

Our future leaders should be transformational leaders who bring about change in individuals, institutions and the country to build a just, humane, prosperous and genuinely democratic Philippine society. Transformational leaders promote the moral values of integrity, social responsibility, and love of country through their practice of effective, empowering, and ethical leadership.

An effective leader is competent, decisive and proactive and has the track record to support this. As Captain of the ship, she/he has the ability to steer the ship of government, to arrive at the destination of a prosperous and just society.

Remember that it is God's will on whoeverperson he will assign to be the next president. And this person is assigned to the authority because of God's purpose for his/her life and for this nation.
